Welcome to 550HQ, a web portal for all things paracord.

While serving four years in the US Navy I developed an appreciation for the usefulness and beauty of knots tied with MIL-C-5040H type III or 550 paracord.  Over the years I have incorporated paracord into everything from zipper pulls to shoe strings, key chains to lanyards and even in its purest form of just being spooled on a carabiner and tucked away nicely in my EDC.

This website is a direct result of me just trying to be organized.  The favorite’s folder in my web browser was full of links to websites about paracording.  Heck, I had over 30 links saved to Stormdrain’s blog and videos alone!  Not to mention all of the links to various websites that sell paracord supplies and paracord products.  It was time to get all of this sorted out and into a format that was easy to use and reference.  I was also looking for a way to say thank you to people like Stormdrain and J.D. Lenzen who have helped me along the way.

Of course 550HQ.com will continue to develope over time.  So please, feel free to send me an email with websites you like, your favorite blogs, or ideas you have on unique ways to use paracord.
